Partner’s and orphans’ pension

You accrue partner's and orphan's pension in addition to your old-age pension. If you die, your partner will be entitled to partner’s pension and your children will receive orphans’ pension.

The partner’s pension is 70% of the old-age pension that you would receive if you accrued pension with Bpf MITT until you retire. Your partner also receives 70% of the old-age pension if you die after retiring. The amount of the orphan's pension is 14% of the old-age pension. Each child receives this until reaching the age of 18. The child receives the orphan's pension until reaching the age of 27 provided that he or she is still at school or in further or higher education.
The amount of the partner's and orphan's pension is given in your UPO and at  www.mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl.

Your partner may also be entitled to a statutory surviving dependants' benefit from the government: the ANW scheme.
This is subject to conditions. Your partner must have lived or worked in the Netherlands and has not yet reached the AOW retirement age and is caring for a child under the age of 18 or is more than 45% incapacitated for work. More information is given on the website of the Sociale Verzekeringsbank (Social Insurance Bank) www.svb.nl.
