Advancing or deferring the pensionRather than retiring at the age of 68, you can choose to continue working for longer. In that case, you can have the payment of your old-age pension deferred until you actually retire. If you retire later, the old-age pension you have accrued is increased. You may also choose to retire earlier than at 68. This means that your old-age pension will be lower. Retiring early thus has financial consequences. Pension accrual stops earlier and old-age pension is reduced. You should also bear in mind that state old-age pension (AOW) will probably commence later than your early old-age pension. |
